As for today, I just want to share with you my experience buying a new lappy (short name for laptop).
1) Don’t listen to the promoter
Do your own research/survey beforehand because most of the promoters there are part-timers and only work during the PC Fair. They have no idea whatsoever about the products and their mission is to make sales and get commission. But don’t hesitate to ask for a normal stuffs such as warranty, service centre, etc.
2) Stick to your budget
I know it’s really hard to do especially when the pretty (leng lui) promoter keeps whispering to your ear to buy the one with better specs but at the end of the day, it’s your hard-earned money we are talking about here.
3) Buy according to your needs
People always buy something that they don’t need especially when it comes to onetime offer. Ask yourself the purpose of buying the laptop. If you’re just a casual user that only uses the notebook for surfing, you don’t need the high end notebook with super duper specs.
4) Give it a try first
Buying a notebook is not the same as buying a PC because the keyboard is not standardize. You don’t want to end up with a notebook with the keyboard too small for your fingers. Another tips for you, try lifting the notebook. Is it too heavy for you?
5) Pick the right day
I know this is sound weird but try not to go on Saturday because during that day, it’s going to be a lot of people and most of the time the promoter don’t have much to spend on each customer. It means, it’s hard for you to get discount or get extra free stuffs.
